Size Guide

Colors are shown as our best representation of reality and will differ from screen to screen.

Named after the notoriously steep and demanding trail up the north side of Mount Mansfield, the Hell Brook Hoodie is built for performance.

Cut and sewn in Vermont, the lightweight Polartec® Power Wool™ fabric features a next-to-skin Merino grid that is incredible for temperature regulation and moisture control during high-output activities. With layered construction, the quick-dry polyester outer offers more durability and showcases the benefits of both natural and synthetic fibers.

Perfect for warm days, cold weather exercise, and everything in between, you’ll get caught wearing this baselayer around the house not wanting to take it off.

Note: The Custom Merino Wool Hell Brook is made to order and may take 2-5 weeks to fulfill. Please have patience during this process and be sure to double check your size and color selections before ordering!

For local pickup select "Pick up" during checkout and you will receive an email when your order is ready.

They are loved

All 4 of my family who received them for Christmas are wearing them and loving them.

Great but a little snug

This is a great hiking base layer for cool to kinda warm days. I love the Powerwool material as it’s great with moisture management and doesn’t get stinky as fast a pure synthetic base layer. The construction is good (better than some other cottage brands ) and the hood and thumb holes are well done

Sizing is a little challenging (as with all things ordered online) Believe the sizing info when they say it’s trim fit. If you have a broad chest or thick arms, go up a size from your measurements. I ended up passing my first shirt down to my wife and ordering another one a size larger

Merino wool Hoodie

My kids love the hoodies and as of a few days ago my son hadn’t taken it off since Dec 25. Love the material and inner layer. Great color. Thanks so much.

Beautiful Cut

This shirt is soft and beautifully made. I gave it 4 stars (and in truth, it’s my fault for not doing my research), because it’s only 31% merino wool. I thought for the price, its name, and custom made feel, it would be more Merino. Beautiful- just too much Polyester for me.

Absolutely Unreal

I thrash my hell brook hoodie on a daily basis while doing backcountry stone work on a trail crew. It’s held up to months of utter abuse and kept me warm and comfy during some real cold starts. My friends are jealous of how cool I look and always try to steal this unique item. Way better quality than a Melanzana. Thanks Thuja team

I love this shirt

I would wear this everyday if I could. I love the material and the fit is great. It's great to stay out of the sun and super light weight. It comfy around the house and is the perfect shirt for hiking.

I would buy another one

The sizing is a bit weird. I'm 5.8" and typically wear women's small, so I was pretty skeptical that I was a 3 (or an xs) when I looked at the sizing chart. But I got my hoodie, and it turns out I am a 3. I can still wear a shirt under it, it isn't too baggy or tight. The sleeves are also long enough, not too short which typically happens with the smaller sizes.

of note, I also don't have very large hips. If they were even a little wider, this shirt wouldn't fit well since it is a straight-cut torso, with no curve that you would typically see with women's clothes for the waist. That is the problem with non-women-specific clothes; I feel like all that means is that they are made for men, but women can wear them if they would like.

So, again, it fits me, and it's comfortable and warm. I would buy it again!

I love it

Super soft and confortable, I just love it. Too bad for me I ordered a size up instead of smaller and it is too big for me. I still wear it because it is so comfortable, breathable, light and soft.

Perfect 3-season gear

This merino wool hoodie is the best! It’s what I grab for everything. It’s light weight and warm but not at all bulky, soft and breathable, and minimalist design — so versatile. Perfect!

Love this new style! #wool

Amazing breathable fabric that is super soft and very comfortable on the skin! I'm 5'3" & 140lbs with an athletic build. I normally wear a size 4/Small... Ordered a size 4 to wear as a base layer touring, a perfect fit! But now as weather warms up and nights are cool, I wish I'd sized up to a size 6 for a more casual fit to wear as a light post activity layer. Guess I need another piece from Thuja!
Feedback: Wishing for a stretchy waist hem and a slightly cropped fit for casual wear of this lovely wool fabric!
I'll forsure be a returning customer.
Cheers!

Love this new baselayer!

I recently wore it running in 12 degree weather and needed no additional layers, amazing. And then two days later I wore it for an above-freezing backcountry ski tour (also comfortable in those temps) and the rest of the day at the office too. Gotta love wool! It seems like a really wonderful piece.
